Soccer Agent e-Course (Football Intermediary Course)

Learn the skills to represent players and clubs worldwide

Agents perform a key role in the international football transfer market by representing players and clubs during the transfer process.

The demand for agents is high as football clubs, especially the elite clubs, are spending more and more money to ensure that they feature in the top competitions, such as the Champions League.

The Money Spent During Transfer Windows

Europe’s top league clubs spent a record amount of money during the 2019 summer transfer window. The money spent by the top five leagues in Europe during this period is as follows:

Amount Spent

English Premier League

£1.41 billion

Spanish La Liga

€1.37 billion

Italian Serie A

€1.17 billion

Germany’s Bundesliga

€740 million

France’s Ligue 1

€670 million

At the heart of most transfers are football agents negotiating and closing deals on behalf of their clients, be it a player or club

In return for representing a player or club, Agents normally earn a percentage of a player’s salary / a fee agreed by the agent and club. This can be a large amount of money when one takes into consideration the amount of money involved in the transfer market.

Player Salaries

By way of example, the salaries of some of the top players in Europe are as follows:

Estimated Salary

Christano Ronaldo

£1,677,867.02 per week

Neymar Jr

£775,477 per week

Paris Saint Germain

Lionel Messi

$645,000 per week

Eden Hazard

£400,000 per week

Real Madrid

The truth is that only few Agents are fortunate enough to have clients as good as Ronaldo, Neymar or Messi, but you can nevertheless still earn a high salary as a football agent even while representing lower league players, as they too are now earning considerable amounts of money in the game. For example, the salaries of football players in the EFL Championship (the division below the English Premier League) increased from £693 million to £748 million during the 2017/18 season.

The Steps to Become an Agent

The good news is that FIFA currently allows National Football Associations to adopt their own requirements for those wishing to work as Agents. However, before you will be ready to represent your first players and clubs, you’ll need to learn about the rules, regulations and laws that apply to agents, players and clubs worldwide. This shall allow you to navigate through the different rules and properly represent your client/s.

On this course, you shall learn about these rules and how football / soccer agents negotiate player transfers on behalf of clubs and players, and you’ll get to see transfer contracts and other documents used during player transfers.
